Then-Councilman Weprin was accompanied by Rabbi Shlomo Hochberg, Spiritual leader of the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates, and Joseph B. Sprung, well known businessman and Chairman of Beitar Illit Emergency Medical Center. The purpose of the trip was to cement the special bond between the Jewish community of New York and the 30,000 residents of Beitar, many of whom hail originally from New York.
