Bukharian Jewish Congress
The Bukharian Jewish Congress
was formed to assist the integration into American Jewish life while working to
preserve and enhance the Bukharian Jewish identity as well as advocate for Israel,
and issues of anti-Semitism. Among its projects is the Bukharian Jewish
Community Center, located in Forest Hills,
which offers community wide social and recreational programming.
Bukharian Jews are proud of their origination in Central Asia and regions of the Former Soviet Union.
Today, the majority of the Bukharian Jewish Community lives in the United States, with a concentration in New York, Arizona, Atlanta, Denver, and San Diego. They are a
thriving and vibrant community of immigrants, with a population that is
numbered at over 50,000.
