In a statement today to the Jewish Media, Ezra Friedlander, CEO of The Friedlander Group said: ”I’ve had the honor of working with the late Senator on the legislation to award Wallenberg with a Congressional Gold Medal. Senator Lautenberg or as I used to call him Reb Feivel was a symbol of a bygone era–fiercely proud of his Jewish heritage and authored legislation to help Soviet Jewry.”
When asked by JPupdates why Mr. Lautenberg earned the name Reb Feivel, Mr. Friedlander said, “That’s how he introduced himself to me the first time I met him. He said that’s his yiddish name.” Indeed, Mr. Lautenberg was one of the twelve sitting U.S. Senators at the time of his passing.
